A proper introduction.
I’m random. It’s something that I’ve had to deal with most of my life. Some of the best creative pieces have stemmed from individuals who are completely random. A random mentality is what fuels an effective brainstorming session. Unfortunately for me, it’s brainstorming season in my mind year-round. Fortunately for you, tons of bright ideas are constantly brimming in there.
My grandfather was a guitarist and a singer. My father is a florist and an interior designer. My brother has been dragging me to concerts ever since I was 14 years old. I’ve been writing since childhood. My mind has always been open to all the world has to offer. I believe that this kind of creative lineage is necessary in order to walk into afuture world of creative competition. When in doubt of your creativity, exit the Left Brain immediately. Messages crafted in “Left Brain mode” result in ads that blend right in with all the clutter. If you want to scare bland and formulaic copy away, try singing this, “Bad copy, bad copy, watcha gonna do, watcha gonna do when they come for you?”
Back in February of 2009, I discovered that I had a great talent. It turns out I have a knack for finding errors and inconsistencies in ads and just about anything else with printed words on it. Extra spaces between words. Unnecessary commas and hyphens. Typos. Missing text. Bad grammar. You name it and I’ll catch it. Because of this, designers, art directors, and copywriters speak highly of my keen attention to details and my sharp ability to catch mistakes. I invite you to check out my Proofreading Portfolio to see the kind of silly things that I find and can help you avoid.
I love words. The world is run by words. When you open your mouth, words come out. When you sit down to write, the end result is words. I like to take words apart and create new ones. This is especially effective when trying to stand out among the clutter. I eventually plan on pitching my own uniquely created words to Merriam-Webster and Dictionary.com.
Without a sense of humor, I don’t think that most of us would be able to make it through the day. I’m best friends with Mr. Humor. Why? Because he’s married to Curiosity. If you get people laughing, chances are that you’re going to get them interested in your message.
Now that I’ve managed to do that, I invite you to explore my portfolio and keep an open mind while doing so. Please feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in working with me, have any questions or just want to provide general feedback.
