Henry Chinea's mind.

I'm an open book.

Farragut North was great. And I’m not even into politics.

Yeah, you heard right. I actually enjoyed a play about politics. Aside from laundry and sleeping in, it was all I did today.

Debbie’s friend got us two tickets to this play a few weeks back. We saw it at the GableStage theater at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. Debbie’s done a great job of turning me onto plays and whatnot. Thank you for injecting me with culture, my love! <3

I walked in there not knowing what it was about. It’s basically a lesson in loyalty. Something I learned about the hard way last year. It’s almost like I was meant to be taken to that venue to watch that play. The dialogue was great. They spoke in an English I can actually understand. That’s what kept me interested in the rest of it. I’d recommend it to anyone with an open mind. Politics are rough.

So after the show, we were supposed to go see Godfrey at the Miami Improv at 10:30. It turns out that the person who called Debbie and offered her free tickets misinformed us. There was no 10:30 show! It sucks! We showed up there  with Aileen at 10:35 and got turned away at the door. The only show for the evening was ending at that point. I told Debbie to stop answering their calls. The Miami Improv is sucking hard lately. It’s time to start driving up to the one in Hollywood.

We ended up back at Denny’s, but this time it was the one in Coral Gables on Miracle Mile. Wow did it suck. We had an awful waitress, and the food was terrible in comparison to yesterday’s Denny’s. I decided I’m not going back there either. So that’s two places that have lost me as a customer for good. Sucks for them!

Despite these disappointments, it was nice to be out and about anyway. We ended up going back to our house and watching stuff on Netflix until we got sleepy and decided to call it a night. :)

And of course … None of this would not be worth talking about if my honey had not been there with me. I love you!!!! <3

A day I bought into hype. And man was it worth it.

Aside from sleeping in, we decided to go see Avatar with our close friend that’s been bugging us for weeks to see it with her. Debbie also brought her friend along, who brought his roommate along. So it actually ended up being 5 of us in total. We decided to go to Dolphin Mall to see the movie because Debbie’s friend and his roommate actually live at the FIU dorms, so it was quite convenient. We first headed to our friend’s house, who lives about 10 minutes away from FIU, and then headed over to the FIU dorms to pickup the guys. We arrived at Dolphin Mall at about 9 pm.

The first mission upon arrival was buying the tickets. Once we got those, we proceeded to go and have dinner. My original plan was to try out the new Buffalo Wild Wings location that recently opened at Dolphin Mall, but the wait time to be seated was 30 minutes that we did not have. So we ended up eating at Rotelli’s. I was not in the mood for Italian, but there was absolutely no wait to be seated there. The guys had already eaten at FIU, so they stayed around the mall looking around and they hit up Dave and Busters while we ate. I thought the food was pretty mediocre, but Debbie and Aileen seemed to like it. Oh well. We left around 11 pm.

At 11:15,  we were seated in the theatre. It was pretty packed considering that it had been out for a few weeks already.  I’ve heard and read both great things and horrible things about Avatar. The movie began … and three hours later when it ended, this was my verdict:  It was totally worth the $13 bucks!!!  I loved absolutely everything about the movie. The dialogue. The action. The scenery. The chemistry between the actors and actresses. It was just a perfect movie. I learned firsthand why it’s grossed over $1 billion at the box office. I’m so glad I came out and supported this movie.

After the movie, we hit up Denny’s. The guys were hungry for a meal, and we were hungry for dessert. Everyone was happy. We laughed and had a great time together. And all the while I was in my favorite place in the world  … Right next to my honey. :)

Friday.

The week came to an end like any other. It felt very long for some reason though. I learned today that something I was kind of counting on fell through for the time being. I knew it was too good to be true anyway. Oh well. I will admit that it ruined my day for the most part. I was all gung-ho about it being Friday and everything.

The only thing that lifted my spirits after hearing that was the fact that we booked our 1-year anniversary cruise. It’s 8 days and 7 nights. I absolutely cannot wait to embark on the Carnival Freedom to the Eastern Caribbean!!! :) The countdown begins today!!!

Another good thing I found out today was that I do not have to go to work on Monday. Amen to that. It’s going to be a short week next week. That’s good and bad. Bad because if the shit hits the fan, things have to get resolved a whole lot quicker than usual. But whatever. I’ll deal for now.

An extra day off meant more time spent with my honey. I know she has a lot to work on, but I’m just happy to be here with her. Every moment spent by her side is time I cherish more than anything.

On another note, I ran into my friend today while we were at Barnes and Noble doing some cruise research. He has been behind the scenes trying to help me out with what I was let down on earlier in the day. I hadn’t seen him in a few years, but we always keep in touch via AIM. He proceeded to smack me upside the head for a huge mistake I made in 2009. I totally deserved it. It was nice to introduce him to my wife and nice to finally meet his wife. We talked for a while about things, and I returned back to the Barnes and Noble Café to continue doing cruise research.

11 pm came around and we headed out to grab some Taco Bell. Man do I love that stuff, even if it’s absolutely toxic for your stomach. Once we hit up the Taco Bell, we went straight home, had a late-night snack and proceeded to relax in bed for the rest of the evening. We were both tired from the week.

As I write this, I can barely keep my eyes open. Good night!!

I’m lazy.

I’m so lazy that I’m actually struggling to write this. I’ve got to snap out of it! How the hell did I get so lazy?? Hmm … Maybe I’ve always been this lazy. Wow. It ends here! I’ve got to say that this writing thing is tough though. You’ve got to stay on top of your game at all times if you want to be relevant. Nobody wants to read something that’s not well-written. Writing also has to connect with people. It has to paint pictures and create emotions. That’s something I’ve got to get better at too. Like now for instance. I’m sure there’s a plethora of things in my mind that I could talk about. But none of it seems to want to make its way to this page. It’s like its afraid to come on out or something. I guess if I keep at this everyday it will finally start making its way over here. I guess what I’m beating myself up about the most is that I haven’t been blogging on a daily basis. I wasn’t keeping up with current events or current trends. I admire these professional bloggers and writers for doing what they do on a daily basis.

The highlight of my day was eating the delicious eggs that my wife cooked for dinner. She mixed my favorite cheddar in with the eggs. She’s so awesome!!

Oh. Here’s something crazy. Try this sometime: scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, fried ham, a banana (cut up into slices), and bread. I thought it was a damn good combination. Most people may think it’s disgusting, but I’m not most people. :)

I just want the week to come to an end already. Can we fast forward to 4 pm tomorrow? That’s when my weekend officially begins!

I’m also looking forward to the cruise I plan to go on in April with my wife. We’ve got to book everything first though. Can’t wait to hit up the Caribbean again!! Well … Time to go be lazy again! I shall return tomorrow!!

Mid-week thoughts.

It’s the middle of the week, and I’m surprised it got here so fast. Before I start talking crap about my life, I just want to say that my prayers go out to the people of Haiti and those who have lost loved ones in Haiti.

As I watch more and more coverage of the massive earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday afternoon, my heart breaks even more. I can’t believe this actually happened. The images that appear on the screen aren’t helping, as they are of destruction and suffering. It’s leaving me speechless. I believe that the best way to help out in this time of need is by texting “YELE” TO 501501, which ensures that a $5 donation goes to Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation. $4.50 of the $5 is going to the Haitian people. It’s charged directly to your phone bill. I just did it from my iPhone. I strongly urge everyone to do the same.

On a brighter note, I do want to point out that I actually heard the audio portion of one of my ideas actually coming to life from a nearby room today. I pitched an idea for a TV spot that we’re tasked with producing at work, and the client actually went with it. They approved us to film the commercial and put it together. The shoot was yesterday, and it’s now in post-production. It feels nice to know that I’ve got ideas worth listening to and bringing to life. It’s a good way to start the year. :)

I’m starting to slowly regain the confidence that I need. It’s been hard to fight the laziness and feeling that I’m a lousy writer. There’s been days where I just sit back and wonder why I even bother. The fact of the matter is that there are so many great writers out there that it scares me to try to say anything myself. I’ve gotten so good at proofreading what they have to say that I started losing sight of my ability to express myself in writing. I guess that I’ve just got to continue flexing my writing muscle. The more I do it, the better I’m gonna get at it.

So as I write this, I’m sitting right next to my beautiful wife. She is now on the phone with one of her closest friends, who just joined a fraternity at FIU and called her to let her know. He had asked me yesterday if I could lend him a tie so he could wear it to a pre-rush event. We used iChat and the built-in camera on her laptop to showcase a bunch of ties. Let’s just say that he narrowed it down to just three to choose from. What can I say? They were all hand-me-downs from my father.

I also want to point out that she saved me again at lunch for the second day in a row. Thank you for the delicious sandwich, my love! I really do have the best wife EVER. <3

Well, it’s that time where we turn off the laptops and relax the rest of the night. Good night!

Too-esday.

It’s the second day of the week. And I couldn’t be more eager for it to be Friday already!

The highlights of my day were eating the delicious sandwich that my wife made me for lunch and then returning to her at the end of the day. By default, returning to her is always the biggest highlight of my day, but there are days when things that are actually interesting happen to me. Today just wasn’t one of them. But that’s ok.

I got in contact an with a co-worker that I remained friends with in order to invite him out to dinner for hooking me up last year. It turns out that his mother has been in the hospital for the last couple of weeks. We postponed the dinner for the near future. His mom and his family are in my prayers.

I also saw Shallow Hal in Spanish with my father-in-law. Let’s just say that he was laughing the entire movie. Over the last couple of days we’ve been watching a movie after dinner. It’s good to hear him laugh. Like right now. I put on Paul Blart: Mall Cop and he’s laughing away. Kevin James really is a riot.

My beautiful wife is sitting near me on her laptop. And our dog just got stuck in the middle of our wooden folding table that’s between our two recliners. My goodness. My father-in-law had to hold down the table because he was about to knock it over.

But back to my wife. She’s grown quite fond of Farmville lately, but that’s OK. I still love her. It’s too bad you can’t fertilize homework and studying crops over there. It’d definitely make her life a lot easier. :P I like watching her sit there and twirl her hair as she does her homework on the laptop.  <3 I can’t wait for her to be done with her homework so that I can lay next to her and watch all the recorded shows that we have on our DVR.

Well, tomorrow shall be another day. Hopefully it’ll be a more interesting one. Excuse me while I go give my wife a big hug. :)

Hello 2010.

Hello.

It’s 2010. It’s time for a new start. New year, new blog. That’s right. Goodbye LiveJournal. Hello WordPress.

Welcome to my life. I know that I’m not the most interesting person on the face of the earth, but I’ve got to get back to what I’m truly passionate about: writing.

Today proved to be a halfway decent Monday. My wife surprised me with some awesome things. And I want to say this to her:

Love,

I’d like to thank you for the delicious Thomas toaster biscuits, the comfy dress socks, and the refreshing Spearmint gum you brought home from Sam’s Club for me today. You’re such a great listener!

There’s so much that I want for us to accomplish this year. I want you to continue succeeding in school. I want us to take that second cruise. I want to take road trips if at all possible. I want us to feel as young as we truly are …

I love you!

*walks over to the kitchen to help you*”

In addition to this, I heard from somebody today that I did not expect to hear from for a while. :)

As Monday comes to an end, I’m looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

More to come tomorrow.
